Numero dos…let the countdown begin…

So I sit here just about two weeks out from setting out on my year-long adventure and holy balls the oh-shit is totally setting in😳😳😳!! Especially since due to unforeseen conditions (aka strep throat that knocked me on my ass for most of last week 😬) I am waaaaaayy behind on this whole packing and selling stuff/crap. I basically have this week to sell/move/donate/gift all of my belongings while meeting up with friends/acquaintances to say adios.

What has been made really clear to me, especially over these last few weeks, is that I have a pretty kickass circle of family, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, clients, and more. My only complaint is that I don’t seem to have enough time to say bye and get together with everyone I would like to (sorry Dad!). If this also ends up being you- know I have and will try my best to see you before I go, but who knew that being 30-something and having strep throat equals total loss of a week? Complete BS and I promise I would way rather have seen your pretty face instead 😘!! This just gives you an incentive to hop on a plane and come see me somewhere around the world…

My kickass company and coworkers had a sushi bon voyage happy hour celebration sendoff for me and I had to bite the sides of my mouth to not start crying because I know I will miss them/the firm/my clients like crazy because it has only been a week and I already really do🀐 πŸ˜±πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ. My CEO left me a handwritten letter that I want to frame; I will always carry a picture of it with me during my travels to read as needed as it was super authentic and kickass. I can honestly say I made some lifelong friends here and I look forward to seeing continued success for all and where all of our paths cross in the future.

The amount of client email responses with such positive and encouraging messages for my journey ahead left me with happy tears each time one came in. I received a few pretty awesome calls too- thank you! I have to say the best compliment I received from a number of clients was a variation of I can take a difficult subject and make it understandable and that I never made them feel stupid. Those are the two single best compliments I can ever think of receiving and I thank you to those who took the time to send them as they meant a lot 😊!

I received a surprise package from an awesome friend from San Fran of some highly coveted body glitter (πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’πŸ»πŸ˜‚) and a pretty cool mag to help me decide which travel camera I *need* as she is basically a professional photographer.

Magical glitter from Clara πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—!!!

I met a traveling Aussie and was able to show him our beautiful state and city and not only is he now one of my most favorite people ever, I do realize Australia will be added to my next-up travel bucket list/if I win the lotto/inherit funds and can travel forever list. I just didn’t feel like I had the time needed this go around for such a huge country, so I will try my best for one of the above 🀞🏼.  It was also totally fun and rewarding to see our city and state through a newbies eyes. We do have a lot to be proud of πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ’ͺ🏼.  Plus, totally added to future travel karma bank, right πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ?! Kidding, kidding, the company alone was totes worth it πŸ’πŸ»πŸ˜‰.

Prettyyyyyyy 😍😍😍

Had some delish pizza with my lil sis and Godparents earlier this week where my spitfire of a God Mother (yes she encompasses all loving attributes of a mother hen) told me I can text her if I am in an emergency anywhere around the world and she will work on saving me πŸ’—πŸ’—. Seriously, how cute is she?! Love!!

So thank you to all of those over these past few weeks who have really shown me what an amazing group of people I have surrounding me, supporting me, and being my very own personal cheerleaders along this crazy life journey πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈ. I for sure would not want to be on this journey without any of y’all!

Oh crazy cool coincidence- so for the first five days of my trip in Japan I am staying with the Japanese host family I lived with during my junior year abroad at Waseda University. The Chatani’s are and were the best host family ever and we have visited each other multiple times over the years in each country.

Maichi and I enjoying the fine delicacy of Japanese crepes
Mmmm Japanese crepes with Maichi and super unflattering pic of I πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

My host sister, Maichi, even spent her junior year of college abroad in Seattle. Suffice to say they are definitely my family and I can’t wait to see them soon🎌🎌!! Maichi let me know that she won’t be in JapanπŸ˜“, but will be in New Zealand (where she has previously traveled) and would I like to travel together in November in New Zealand when I make it there. Hells yah Maichi!!! Penguins, glowworm caves, Kiwis, and more πŸŽŠπŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰.

Yes people, glowworms are real 😱. I know, totes trips me out too πŸ˜‚πŸ’πŸ»!

A hui hou!!
